Fight For Friendship
Chapter 20

Putting on as many layers of clothing as I possibly could, I unlocked my window and opened it.  Wind blew through the opening and and into my face.  It was really cold.  Even though it was almost summer, things were still unusually chilly and very rainy.  But that was the price I would have to pay for freedom.
The TV antenna was right by my room, so I had no real trouble getting down from the second story of my house. Except that my whole body was trembling with every step that I took.
I didn't even know where I was going. I just kept walking although everything started to spin.  It felt like the world had just turned upside-down, and I was slowly slipping off. The trees and grass surrounding me were starting to blur.  Circling faster and faster, soon the world was nothing more than a haze to me.  Giving in, I decided I had to rest and retreated into some nearby bushes.
I wondered if my parents even noticed that I was gone yet.  Were they looking for me? Did they call the police?  They could have not even noticed.  My door was locked.  They wouldn't know if I was in there or not.
Leaning my head back against a branch on the bush, a sharp splinter poked me, and I began to bleed.  I let the rain wash it all away.  Other than the occasional quick flashes of lightning that illuminated the sky, everything was dark.  Grey clouds were hiding everything else above me.  I felt like a little puppy that had just been brought to a new home, a place where they were completely lost.
Still slighty dizzy, I stood up and continued to walk anyway.  My feet kept sinking into the mud until I reached a stone path.  After I looked up, I noticed the path was a driveway leading up to an immense house.  A very familiar house.  Without even realizing it, I had run away to Aaron's home.
Also without realizing it, I had rang the doorbell, fallen into Aaron't arms and started crying.  Tears rolled down my cheeks, but at that minute I couldn't have been happier.   Even though he had no idea what was going on, Aaron hugged me back and comforted me.  When we were both standing out there, although getting soaking wet, I already felt warmth.  I had finally found the shelter I had been looking for my whole life.  Sometimes the motivation you are looking for is right in front of your face.
